Raffle rules
General rules for raffles run by United States Team Penning Association. Each raffle may add its own rules, shown on its page.
Raffles on this site are conducted by United States Team Penning Association, a nonprofit organization based in Oklahoma, through volunteer members. Proceeds support the USTPA youth program; anything beyond that goes into competition prize money.
You must be at least 18 years old to buy a ticket. By buying, you confirm that raffles are legal where you live.
Each ticket has a unique number. All paid tickets issued before a drawing are in that drawing. A ticket bought after a drawing is in every later drawing of the same raffle. Whether a winning ticket stays in later drawings is set per raffle and shown on the raffle page.
Drawings use a random seed generated by the server. Its SHA-256 hash is published before the drawing and the seed is published after, together with the full list of eligible tickets, so anyone can recompute the result.
Winners are notified by email at the address on the order and posted on the winners page. Prizes must be claimed within the window stated in the email; otherwise the prize goes to an alternate drawn at the same time.
Prizes valued at $600 or more that are at least 300 times the ticket price are reported to the IRS on Form W-2G, which requires the winner's taxpayer identification number. Cash prizes over $5,000 are subject to federal withholding. Winners are responsible for any taxes.
Unpaid Venmo orders are released after 7 days. Refunds are issued only if a raffle is cancelled, in which case all paid orders are refunded in full. Raffle ticket purchases are not tax-deductible charitable contributions.
